Registering to Vote
The deadline to register to vote is 15 days prior to each local and statewide Election Day. Registration forms are widely available, and can be obtained at county board of elections, libraries, high schools, and through other organizations.
Voter Qualifications
You may register to vote in California if:
- You are a U.S. citizen.
- You are a resident of California and this county for 30 days before the election.
- You will be at least 18 years old by the next general election.
- You are not registered nor voting in any other county or state.
- You are not in prison or on parole for a felony conviction.
To get started now, fill out a CA Voter Registration form and then mail it to your County Elections Office.

Vote By Mail
Any registered voter may vote using a vote-by-mail ballot instead of going to the polls on Election Day. California law also allows any registered voter to become a permanent vote-by-mail voter.
